Nearing The End

Nearing The End

So, how many references to the phrase nearing the end can I work into this picture? Well, she's nearing the end of the bench for starters. Actually, she's right at the end to be brutally honest since going further involves a temporary suspension of the forces that bind the component atoms of the old lady and the wooden bench, and mankind just isn't ready for my demolecularisation suppository yet. Secondly, she's nearing the end of the book. Unless it's a Manga novel and she's reading it backwards. She didn't look like a Manga fan, though. Were you to press me on the subject then I freely admit I couldn't describe one, however any attempt to do so would be as far removed from the person photographed as possible. And finally, she's old too so – though it pains me to say it – there's a very obvious nearing the end taking place barring the release of my patented immortality suppositories. But no, I think there's a lot of growing up for humanity to do before those little beauties see the light of day. So to speak. Google+: View post on...

Sun Worshipper

Some people can't wait for a bit of sunshine so they can get out and top up their tans; I'm not one of them. Being half-Irish I only have two skin tones: very white and very red. There are no intermediate shades. Still, even though I'm not a sun worshipper I do understand the principle of the activity: expose one's skin to ultraviolet radiation and balance the cooking of said skin against cancerous growths in an exciting game of chance. This gentleman in the cathedral gardens today clearly was somewhat less worldly-wise than me and had mixed up the two disparate enterprises of sunbathing and wrapping up warm against a chill. I suppose it's easily done. Google+: View post on...

Dog Tired

What separates us from the animals? Many things, of course, and one of the things that separates me from animals – and in particular, this dog – is that I wouldn't lie down on the flagstones in the shopping precinct for a rest. Unless I was really quite drunk. Come to think of it, the dog might have been drunk. Perhaps we're not that dissimilar after all. Google+: View post on...

Red Flower

My knowledge of flowers begins and ends with their colours. This is the final shot of my trio of pictures sponsored by your local Communist party this evening (the others being the red shoes and redhead in case that wasn't clear) and is submitted for #MacroMonday curated by +Kerry Murphy, +Kelli Seeger Kim, and +Jennifer Eden (whose name won't autolink so obviously she's done something to upset the programmers at Google). Redhead

If you go down to the woods today you're sure of a big surprise, and if you popped through the gardens at the back of Chichester Cathedral you would also have experienced one as someone had placed clowns at strategic locations inside its walls in a fiendish bid to terrify the unsuspecting public. Fortunately, years of suffering stalking by the horrific harlequins as a youth has given me a healthy suspicion of anyone (you can never be too safe) and everything (especially very small cars) and I was ready for them. I'm always ready for them. Keeping to the grass and small movements, and thinking like a bush allowed me to navigate the greenery safely. I took off and nuked the area from orbit after I'd got clear; it's the only way to be sure. Google+: View post on...

Communicator

Very bright but quite cold this lunchtime and there wasn't a great deal going on in Chichester. I only decided to take a shot of this particular woman because she stood still for a few seconds and it's a shame that I didn't fire off a few more photos as – mere moments after addressing her communicator – she was encased in a sparkling shower of exotic particles as her component atoms were dematerialised into energy form and beamed to some unseen location. Bloody intergalactic explorers. For #MonochromeMonday curated by +Charles Lupica, +Bill Wood, and +Hans Berendsen. Google+: View post on...
