One Man And His Carrot

One Man And His Carrot

I tend to eat my lunch at my desk while working and then pop out for a full hour's worth of walking and shooting at lunchtime afterwards but others will either simply take their lunch break at their desk (which seems crazy to me since you'll always get a phone call or some other pressure to do some actual work if you do that) or they'll head outside and get away from the office toil. This man, spotted yesterday, was clearly one of the lattermost of those groups; I imagine his work was fairly stressful as he took some considerable time to munch through the large, raw carrot that he'd unwrapped from his aluminium foil package, all the while staring across the road at nothing in particular as people and buses passed by. A Little Bit Of Nature

I felt like getting away from street photography today and since it was quite welcoming for a change I decided to take in a little bit of nature. Admittedly, there are some dead and dying leaves in this album but some flowers were out and some buds were growing, possibly due to the relative mildness of the past few days when compared to just a week ago. To finish there was a spectacularly lovely sunset as I left work and walked to the car park, and as I drove westwards on the way home it was hard to keep from glancing up into the fiery red sky that led the way. Through The Window

Two posts for #WindowWednesday (+#Window Wednesday) curated by +Simon Kitcher, +Jules Hunter, and +Jason Kowing in one day! And there could have been three since one of the jewellers in Chichester had its front smashed in and a load of stuff nicked too. But I'll limit myself to two. This was one of those shots taken from the hip while walking; I had no idea at the time if anything was going to be in focus but I liked the end result as these sorts of pictures where there's lots of little things to see throughout the frame appeal to me. Street Portrait

My first ever street portrait (submitted for #PortraitTuesday curated by Laura Balc, whose name won't appear in my dropdown so I can't link to it, grumble, grumble) and I'm not even sure it counts since the subject did the asking; I've still not got over that hurdle yet. +Daniel Burrows and I had only just got over the trauma of being chased away from House of Fraser by a security guard (see: https://plus.google.com/102770689390169159343/posts/VQBNkndfWWC but be aware that I may be making more of a deal of this than it really was) when a group of – perhaps – mildly inebriated eastern European people wandered past. Survival training kicked in and we avoided all eye contact until they had passed but to our surprise the lattermost man turned around and gestured for us to take his picture. We duly did. Subsequently, I've very almost sort of nearly broken my street portraiture virginity. And on Valentine's Day too! Yay me! Google+: View post on...

Hearts

Following on with my mini early-Valentine's theme today this is simply a photo of a building that caught my eyes today because of its red window shutters with heart-shaped holes in them. Nothing really else to add to that. Google+: View post on...
