Sky News Survey July 2008

As I’ve mentioned elsewhere on this site I like to take part in certain surveys from time-to-time, less because I have a desire to help people out and more because I have a desire to spot leading questions or to try to work out what the underlying message is or guess what survey response the survey is really trying to elicit. Today’s Sky News Panel survey was a third-party survey apparently run in conjunction with one of the home improvement stores. The questions touched upon spending fear, trauma, economic woe, and DIY. One of my answers: If I win the Amazon vouchers on offer then I’m going to have to buy heavy books with sharp edges for defending purposes in case they think my idea is a good...

Doodle Week II – Doodle Evil

If you’ve been following this site all week then you’ll know that it’s Doodle Week II. And you’ll know mental anguish. Today’s theme is Doodle Evil. If you’re a Patriots fan like me then nothing says evil quite like the Multi Pointing Manning Beast! I’ve been working on a poem. With a tip of the hat to Lewis Carroll: ‘Twas Gridiron and the spuddy one Did yell "Omaha" an awful lot. All trembling was the secondary Until Peyton got another ad spot. Beware the Manning Beast my son, The fingers that point, The other fingers that also point, Beware the spuddy one’s sibling too He’s not quite as annoying but the bugger went and won the Superbowl the git. Obviously, it’s a work in...

Doodle Week II – Doodle Vacation

It’s day four of what some people are already calling "the second Doodle Week EVER!", Doodle Week II. Today’s theme is Doodle Vacation. The traditional British holiday is the beach holiday. Sharp pebbles, sharp discarded coke cans, sharp dog crap, sharp-billed seagulls, sharp wind, sharp seaweed, sharp sand in the wafer-thin, runny margarine sandwiches, sharp warm orange juice from the Thermos, finished off with a sharp intake of breath at the end of the day when someone touches your blistering skin. Ah, the memories are still...

Doodle Week II – Doodle Garden

Today’s Doodle Week II sees a venture away from the terrifying trauma of the bug and well away from the stressful tension of a space trip fraught with space danger. Today’s theme is Doodle Garden. It’s a fricking Zen Garden in case you’re thinking I’ve gone all abstract and arty and symbolic. I haven’t. I decided to touch upon the inner peace that a Zen Garden brings as you comb around the rocks and think "I don’t have to remember to water this thing! That’s awesome! And no weeds! Sweet!" That, and my green pencil was broken and I couldn’t be arsed to go and sharpen...

Doodle Week II – Doodle Outer Space

Today’s Doodle Week II post carries on where yesterday’s left off only it then takes a sharp turn and plummets off a cliff to its doom. Today’s theme is Doodle Outer Space. In case you’re wondering: yes, that is the new design by NASA to replace the Space Shuttle fleet. Retro...

Doodle Week II – Doodle Bug

It’s Doodle Week II: Electric Boogaloo(*), that special time of the year when website owners once again don’t have to think of anything original to put on their site and can instead let others come up with the ideas for them and then inflict their artistically-deficient creations upon an unsuspecting world. Today’s theme is Doodle Bug. (*) Or should that be Electric Bugaloo(**) instead? (**) No. No it...
