Street Shoot Shot

One of the things I love doing is photographing other photographers in the act of photographing so I was quite pleased to stumble upon this street fashion shoot taking place along Broadway in New York on our visit. I would love to see the shot he took of her but it seems pretty unlikely that will ever happen. Google+: View post on...

New York City Perfumes

I think I probably have one more evening's sifting through photos of New York to go and then I can catch up with the rest of the vacation plus all the photos I've taken since then. Still a while to go then. Here's a quick processing of one of tonight's keepers; a perfume store – tagged by locals – near a subway somewhere along Broadway (or possibly Park Avenue since we did wander off the route at one point). Woman On The Staten Island Ferry

We were given some good advice before we visited New York: one piece was that the Statue of Liberty was undergoing repairs so not to bother visiting it, and another was that a good way to see the statue itself was on the free-to-travel Staten Island Ferry. A lovely experience, as it happens, and – because I'm that way inclined – a good way to take photos of other people (typically other tourists) while they're distracted by the New York landmark. However, the particular woman in this shot was clearly a local, not at all concerned with the tall lady that others were interested in and apparently pondering what awaited her when the boat docked. The older generation make for fantastic photographic subjects. Google+: View post on...

Maxx

While waiting to cross one of New York's streets – and not wanting to risk crossing until the sign told us it was safe as it was ever going to get – this man wandered up with his wheeled box and then proceeded to simply stand right there on the pedestrian crossing staring off into the distance. I have no idea what he was waiting for but a stationary target is a great target for a photographer. Or even a man with a camera pretending to be a photographer. Google+: View post on...

Obligatory New York City Taxi Photograph

When you visit New York City you have to take a photo of a taxi cab. You have to. It's actually a local law. And you don't want to break it. They throw people off the Brooklyn Bridge for less. I'm not kidding. So, yes, there may have been one or two pictures of New York City taxis taken during our short visit there and what you have here is one of the first ones. Google+: View post on...

Chase The Jogger

Chase The Jogger

I've finally started looking at the shots in New York during daylight hours and one of the first I came across had one of those little "ah!" moments in it. I took the photo at the time simply because there was a jogger tentatively trying to cross the road and she formed a point of interest. It's only now that I look at the picture in a bit more detail that I see the Chase building behind her and realise it's possible to work that happy little coincidence into the title in a way that makes it look planned.
