Chichester, 19 October 2011
There's a bit of a nip in the air. Gloves are worn and coats are done up, the air is clear, and the light is blindingly bright. In album 19 October 2011 (11 photos) Google+: View post on...
Chichester People
I decided to use the EF 70-300mm IS USM today instead of the EF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM Macro which has rapidly become my lens of choice. Amazing just how slow and clunky the 70-300 felt and how the sharpness has seemingly vanished. Strange and scary what you get used to. Still, I like the closeness that the extra focal length can get you. I shall endeavour to use it more often. A series of shots of people in and around Chichester from lunchtime today. Cleveland
We're heading to the U.S. in late November to see my sister-in-law and her fiancé and take in some of the sights, sounds, and smells that America has to offer. For me this will be the first visit to American soil. Our itinerary includes a tour to see satellites being built, the many museums of Washington D.C., a traditional Thanksgiving with an American family, and a flight up to Boston to catch the New England Patriots playing (I'm wildly excited about that). This still leaves us with a few days to fill and I've been weighing up two options: a couple of days in New York City or a couple of days visiting relatives in Cleveland. We're leaning towards the former option. However, the following video was almost persuasive enough to make us change our minds. Almost. Google+: View post on...
Monochrome Monday
I wasn't going to post anything for #MonochromeMonday (or any other tagged theme either) but I've just been fiddling (technical term) with the code on my site and I want to make sure that the posts I want to be published from Google+ to it are (like this one) while those I'm now marking to not automatically import (like the previous one on brown dwarfs) aren't, and that the +1s are being picked up correctly. So, with that in mind here's something from my archives: a shot on Brighton Pier from a few years back taken with the 12-24mm lens, and one that I actually gave some consideration to with regards to the diagonal lines and shadows in the composition (I know! That's so not me!) Google+: View post on...
Three Clown Girls
I would say that it's surprising to see three girls sporting clown makeup walking through the centre of Chichester but that would make me a liar. A handful of shots from lunchtime today. In album Chichester, 17 October 2011 (7 photos) Three girls. With clown makeup on. Nothing to see here. Move along. Google+: View post on...
Pictures Around Portsmouth
We had a wander into Portsmouth city centre yesterday to pick up some cards, wrapping paper, fruit from the market, and just generally have a nose about. As always the camera came with me and I decided to take shots of anything of interest, not concentrating on any particular theme. It was a lovely, slightly crisp morning with clear skies and good light. Some of these photos are straight out of the camera but, clearly, with others I've had a bit of a play around with Photoshop. Well, it is the weekend. In album Portsmouth, 15 October 2011 (23 photos) A woman and child wait at the bottom of Portsmouth Guildhall steps. Google+: View post on...
