Wax On, Wax Off
The trouble with photographing karate back belts is that they are able to fend off your shots with flicks of their hands. Curse their martial artistry! For #StreetSaturday . Google+: View post on...
Dotty
Having watched the excellent Sherlock Holmes TV series I've taken it upon myself to learn a lesson or two from the fictional detective, first of those being that I try to be more observant of everything around me these days. Before, I might simply have been able to tell you that this woman had been shopping and was heading east; now, however, I can also add that she had recently received a large payout to compensate for a botched surgery which left her suffering from nerve damage that prevents her noticing when she gets in the way of out-of-control games of full contact tiddlywinks. Sailor Boy
For #BlastFromThePast curated by +Cheryl Cooper, +Mark Rodriguez, and +Isabelle Fortin. Yes, it's me again, aged somewhere around the one or two mark (I have a hazy memory of that period in my life) and, as befits someone born and raised in a naval city, I'm sporting a delightful sailor uniform. I'm drooling for queen and country in this particular shot too. These days I don't wear anything navy-related; the drooling persists, though. Google+: View post on...
When Windows Attack
An instant of life captured in a photo sometimes tells you nothing of the events either side of it. Take this instant, for instance: what do you see here? Is this a builder hired to fix the tired plaster on the outside of the building? Or is this a pervert whose most recent and blatant act of lewd behaviour was quite literally caught as the window through which he had been engaged in activities too disgusting to contemplate slammed shut, leaving him unable to move and too ashamed to call for assistance? It's the former, of course; if you thought otherwise then there's something wrong with you. Weirdo. Google+: View post on...
Grapple
As a street photographer you always hope to be ready to capture that special moment and most of the time I'm not, but today was different; I happened to be in exactly the right place at exactly the right time and was on hand to witness two wrestlers launch attacks on one another in a bid to settle old rivalries. I didn't hang around to see who won as wrestling doesn't interest me without mud and bikinis but I'm sure I'll see the loser's body on the Spikes of Shame during tomorrow's lunchtime outing. Running for the Bus
Maybe. At least, there were buses in the direction in which she was running and it's generally considered strange to just pelt along the middle of the road for no reason so I assumed she was running for the bus. But I didn't look as she passed by and it's certainly conceivable that she's one of those people who just runs down the centre of streets for the joy of it; she wouldn't be the oddest person in Chichester if that were true.
