Chichester Police Officer

Chichester still hasn't returned to its bustling best after the Christmas lull at the moment so interesting people are few and far between. A fellow street photographer and I set up in our usual haunt which today was in close proximity to a man selling hot chocolate drinks from a very makeshift stall (hot water, a tin of chocolate powder, a packet of wet wipes (health and safety is very important, of course), and not much else); the seller was pretty surly-looking which probably didn't help things much and in the close-to-an-hour that we stood, looked, and chatted we saw him make precisely two sales. There was, however, a brief moment of excitement when two police officers marched through obviously on the look for something; a minute later they came back – I would imagine after an unsuccessful hunt for something – and I was able to grab this shot. December Street

An album of street photos taken during December; some black and white, some colour, some in Chichester, some in Portsmouth. It's hard to believe but I'm almost, very nearly, not quite, just about caught up with going through photos taken in the last seven weeks or so now. That US holiday and the Christmas period really put a dent in my uploading and processing schedule. In album December Street (51 photos) Google+: View post on...

I don't normally get this close to people in café fronts but on this occasion the woman pictured was so engrossed with her reading that I took the chance. Google+: View post on...

Alone With His Thoughts

This was taken in December and this man – according to my photographer colleague – was someone who didn't like being photographed, getting quite angry on one such occasion. I had never seen him before and I would normally leave well enough alone but as everyone hustled and bustled around him eager to get shopping done (it was a couple of weeks before Christmas) and as he sat perfectly still on this bench with his hand across his mouth almost in mid-cough but apparently in mid-thought it was too good a shot to miss in my opinion and I took a single snap.
